A 26-year-old Reddit user explained that an older-looking woman asked her to guess her age at a house music show
After guessing incorrectly, the woman felt “uncomfortable”
“I genuinely thought she was in her 50s. Drinks had been flowing and I guess I lost my better judgment and I guessed — what I think is lowballing — 41,” the woman recalled
By guess or by gosh, a woman found out another woman’s age the hard way — and now she’s feeling “horrified” about the awkward situation.
The 26-year-old woman explained on Reddit’s “Am I the A——” forum that an older-looking woman asked her to guess her age during an event.
“I was at a house music show and this woman approached me,” she recalled. “She tells me I look so young. I tell her how old I am and she’s like ahh yeah you’re a baby! And then asks me to guess her age.”
“I usually don’t ever engage in that game with women. I genuinely thought she was in her 50s. Drinks had been flowing and I guess I lost my better judgment and I guessed — what I think is lowballing — 41,” she continued.

The woman’s “41” guess was not correct.
“She’s 37. I’m mortified,” she remembered feeling. “She says, ‘Do I really look that old? I know I have wrinkles!’ And I said, ‘Oh god, I’m so sorry, no, no, you’re beautiful.’ Her friend says, ‘I always say 21 no matter what.’ ”
The younger woman admitted she’s now “feeling uncomfortable and really horrified” about the encounter, her guess and the older woman’s reaction.
“The rest of the night, that woman and I ignored each other,” she said. “To be honest, she was a rough-looking 37.”
“If you look old, don’t ask people to play that game,” she added.

Rethinking whether she’s in the wrong, the younger woman asked, “Am I the a—— for incorrectly guessing a woman’s age?”
Most Redditors sided with the younger woman in this situation, with one reader replying, “People who play these games are insecure about aging. They don’t want an honest answer.”
Another agreed that she had done nothing wrong, commenting, “You were honest, not rude, and honestly, 41 and 37 aren’t even that far apart. If she’s that insecure about her age, that’s on her, not you.”
