Machete actor Danny Trejo, 81, posted a touching memorial to his friend Ozzy Osbourne on July 22, 2025, following the rocker’s death at age 76.
“Today we lost one of the wildest souls to ever walk this Earth,” wrote Trejo beside a photo of the two goofing off together while Osbourne pretended to choke him. “Ozzy wasn’t just The Prince of Darkness, he was pure light to those of us lucky enough to meet him. A heart bigger than any stage he ever rocked.”
The actor added that his heart was with Osbourne’s wife, Sharon Osbourne, and kids Jessica, Louis, Elliot, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. “Love you forever,” he concluded with a white dove and guitar emoji. “Save me a seat backstage up there, carnál.”
The iconic photo was taken backstage at Ozzfest in December 2018, and it wasn’t the only time the dynamic duo was spotted spending time together. In September 2013, they were both honored at the Universal Studios Eyegore Awards, which kicked off Halloween Horror Nights, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In December 2024, Trejo wished his pal a happy birthday with a hilarious meme of the same photo, writing, “That time the Prince of Darkness upped his game from a bat to a Machete. Happy belated birthday, Ozzy Osbourne!”
The Black Sabbath frontman’s death was announced on Tuesday, July 22, by his family on X. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” said the statement. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
