Jessica Jones is back.
Krysten Ritter appeared on stage at the 2025 Disney upfront presentation on Tuesday to announce that she’s joining Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU,” Ritter said. “I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”
A brief teaser for the superhero show’s second season showed a glimpse of Jones, as well as footage of returning stars Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal.

Joining Ritter onstage, Cox also teased a “bold new direction” for the series, adding “I’m excited to suit up in an iconic Daredevil suit, finally complete with the interlocking Ds on the chest.”
Ritter’s super-powered private detective first appeared on Netflix’s Jessica Jones — the streamer’s second Marvel series after the original Daredevil — in 2015. The series ran for three seasons before finishing in 2019.
Ritter also played Jones on Netflix’s 2017 Marvel crossover show The Defenders, where she joined forces with Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
The actress can be next seen in a recurring role on Dexter: Resurrection, which debuts on Paramount+ with Showtime on July 11.

Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane teased the possible inclusion of Matt’s former Defenders allies in season 2 during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When you’re working in what I would call the Hell’s Kitchen corner of the MCU, those iconic characters are always in your mind,” he said of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. “You want to bring in people and relationships and past figures in Matt’s life because they help the story, particularly in terms of a story where Fisk has taken over the city.”
He continued: “There is a resistance and a rebellion, so to speak, rising. So there’s going to be people, vigilantes, superheroes that are involved in that. There has to be because this is happening to their city. That said, you also want to create a completely organic story for that. So who comes in and why has to be beyond anything earned.”
