Jonathan Majors is opening up about why he wrote Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige a letter after the studio dropped him from future roles in Avengers movies.

In a clip from The Jason Lee Show, Majors, 35, was asked about telling Variety he wrote Feige, 51, a letter “not too far in the past.” (Marvel officially ceased working with Majors immediately following the split guilty verdict reached in his December 2023 misdemeanors assault trial in New York City).

“It’s probably a little bit of both,” Major said, after Lee asked him whether writing that letter was due to “therapy, or is that the man you are?”

“Speaking of Marvel, I’ve got an Avengers team of therapists, pastors, prophets. I’ve got them. A rolodex, you know?” Majors said. “I just don’t see the point. Why would I poison somebody? It’s all spiritual. I’m going to write an email with all this s—, being mad, sending it to you. Even if you don’t read it, I’ve transferred that energy to you. I’ve done something in malice towards you.”

“I was not strong enough to keep my s— together. I had to bleed on you, you know what I mean?” he added. “I’ve just been taking my time to just sew everything up.”

When Lee remarked that Majors’ attitude is “going to make you a better person,” the actor said, “Which ultimately is going to make me, hopefully, glory to God, be a better Christian, a better husband, a better homie, a better father. And what I believe what is my calling, kill me if you want, this acting thing.”

Prior to Majors’ criminal trial — he was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree, recklessly causing physical injury as well as harassment in the second degree — the actor was set up to continue portraying the major antagonist Kang the Conquerer in the next two Avengers movies after appearances in the Loki Disney+ series and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

“I just want to clear the record, yeah it sucks. It sucks, right? Like boom, you get the verdict, then boom [you’re dropped], but Marvel’s not mishandling anything by it coming through the grapevine,” Majors said at the time to Variety.

When the outlet asked why Majors wanted to send Feige a letter, the actor simply said, “I just appreciate him. I just love him. I loved my time at Marvel, and I still love Kang. I’m watching them. I see what they’re doing and I’m pulling for them. If they need me, they know where I’m at.”
