The ladies of The View have playfully established their status as one of Kerry Washington’s nosy neighbors — when it comes to digging for details on the actress’ upcoming Desperate Housewives TV series, that is.
Days after Entertainment Weekly learned that the Scandal star and Onyx Collective are developing a reboot of the classic ABC dramedy, Washington teased plot details for the upcoming project to The View cohosts in response to a question from Ana Navarro.
“This one i’m very excited about! One of my favorite shows, it’s rumored you’re working on a remake of Desperate Housewives that’s going to be called Wisteria Lane. Tell us more!” Navarro prompted from Washington, who joined the talk show alongside her Shadow Force costar Omar Sy.
“I can’t say too much, it’s very newly announced, in development!” Washington replied, smiling.
She elaborated slightly, telling the panelists that “the idea is that it’s new times” and that “there’s new challenges” for the residents of the titular street.
“It’s like, what happens on that cul-de-sac now?” she asked. “It’s really exciting.”
When pressed for more information, Washington put her guard up.

“I can’t say any more!” she said, before urging viewers to following along with her Simpson Street production company for more information when it’s available.

Wisteria Lane, from writer-producer Natalie Chaidez of The Flight Attendant, draws its title from the name of the street where the original program took place. The 20th Television logline describes the series as a “fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery, in the vein of Desperate Housewives, set around a group of five very different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul-de-sac called ‘Wisteria Lane.'”
Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, and Felicity Huffman, and Nicollette Sheridan fronted the first Desperate Housewives series, which became a massive hit for the network across its eight-season run from 2004 to 2012.
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
