NBC announced on Wednesday, May 14, that talk show host extraordinaire Kelly Clarkson is expanding her TV empire with the Peacock network.
Clarkson has a recurring segment on her eponymous talk show called “Songs & Stories,” in which the American Idol season 1 winner speaks with a guest about their musical history and how it intertwines with their personal life.
Now that segment is coming to primetime on NBC in its own four-part show featuring guests the Jonas Brothers, Lizzo, Gloria Estefan and Teddy Swims.
“The conversations are a front-row pass for Kelly Clarkson to engage with some of her favorite celebrities and examine both their music and personal lives. The specials are a forum where iconic voices meet heartfelt storytelling through unfiltered conversation and sung in an intimate, unplugged setting,” reads the logline (via Variety).
The four-part special will debut on Tuesday, August 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and air weekly through September 9. The episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
Previous “Songs & Stories” guests on The Kelly Clarkson Show include Garth Brooks, Heart Miranda Lambert, Alanis Morissette, Pink and Babyface.
Clarkson has had a banner year lately. She recently released her first non-Christmas single in almost two years, plus she appeared on The Today Show to perform not only her latest song but a set of her greatest hits, and she showed off her significant weight loss in the process.
In fact, Clarkson is so proud of her weight loss that she said at a recent concert she does not mind at all if people want to cheer her on for her hard work.
“I want every motherf**ker that passes me to go, ‘Damn. Well done,'” said the singer, adding, “I felt fine both ways, but I’m just saying it’s a lot more fun with clothes now.”
