Jennifer Garner’s latest career update has fans jumping for joy.
The original Jenna Rink in the 2000 hit rom-com 13 Going on 30 is joining the Broadway musical version opening at the Manchester Opera House.

This time, however, Garner will not be reprising the iconic role, but since no one knows the movie better, she’ll be applying her expertise as an executive producer of the musical instead.
“After more than 20 years—I still get to talk about Jenna Rink and 13 Going on 30 more days than not—who knew our quirky little movie would have such staying power? I’m thrilled to see Jenna, Matty, and Lucy live on in their very own musical—are you kidding me? I’m geeking out!” the 53-year-old revealed in a statement.

Lucie Jones will take over the character previously played by Garner for the musical debut, with the actress praising her as “flirty and thriving as Jenna.”
The Alias alum noted that “the music is a blast, and all of the anguish of growing up is alive and well in this magical production.”
“I’m so happy to join them as executive producer and very much look forward to the journey,” she concluded.
Fans were equally as thrilled, with one writing, “Literally the best news I’ve heard in 2025” as another added, “ACCA-SCUSE ME?! YES PLEASE!!”
The musical is adapted from original film writers Joshua Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, with music by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. Andy Fickman is set to direct.
Announced in 2014, it’s described as “a totally grown up new musical comedy based on the hit 2004 film that starred Jennifer Garner and MarkRuffalo, and it’s coming to Manchester Opera House for its World Premiere next year!”
Further casting is yet to be announced, but there’s still time as the world premiere opening is set for Sept. 21, 2025 for the limited season.
