Zendaya has officially arrived at the 2025 Met Gala, and as usual, she came to win.
The actress attended the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday, May 5, wearing an outfit that fit perfectly with the theme of the night, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
After watching Diana Ross take the carpet ahead of her, Zendaya, 28, then showed off her white form-fitting three-piece custom Louis Vuitton zoot suit, designed by Pharrell Williams, complete with a matching tie, wide-brimmed hat and sparkling brooch pinned below her back collar.
She opted for pop of color with her nails, which were painted red and helped to show off her new sparkling engagement ring.

In October 2024, Vogue shared details on the 2025 Met Gala, announcing that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for the event, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The gala, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday in May, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”

The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee that includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher and Angel Reese.

Zendaya, who is engaged to Spider-Man costar Tom Holland, has attended the Met Gala six previous times, each solo. She made her debut at the annual fashion event in 2015, wearing a sculptural Fausto Puglisi gown with embroidered sun motifs for the “China: Through The Looking Glass” theme. She made an appearance at the Met Gala each year until the end of the 2010s and paid homage to her Disney roots by dressing as a light-up Cinderella for the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme in 2019.
The Challengers actress went on a five-year hiatus from the event, reappearing and serving as one of the 2024 co-chairs for the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”-themed event. Last year’s Gala saw Zendaya wear not one, but two different looks for her appearance on the carpet.
The first look was an ornate teal John Galliano 1920s-inspired gown that was reminiscent of peacocks.
The second look was a gothic-inspired gown pulled from the John Galliano archives for Givenchy. The gown, which was previously unworn, was created in 1996 — the actress’s birth year.

“We call each other ‘Big Ideas’ and ‘Small Details.’ I’m the big ideas. I dream in grandeur. These huge, not realistic dreams,” her stylist, Law Roach, told TODAY after her 2024 Met Gala appearance. “Her thing is the small details. I may have said, ‘Let’s have five looks.’ And she’s like, ‘I think two is enough.’ She’s the grounding force in this relationship.”

The two looks, he explained, were meant to tell the “story of the artistry of John Galliano.”
“For me, growing up, that’s what I thought fashion was: John Galliano at Dior. It was a world I was captivated by but I didn’t think I could live in, breathe in, have space in,” he continued. “Last night was a celebration of the world that has inspired me for so long.”
Having Zendaya walk the carpet in two different gowns was made possible with the team at Vogue, as well as Wintour, who co-chairs the Met Gala annually. “They were very accommodating of this crazy request,” Roach said.
