Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco skipped the Met Gala on Monday night, but the engaged couple have a busy year ahead of them between multiple projects and businesses—not to mention getting married.
Gomez, for instance, was just seen at the Rare Beauty Summit in Los Angeles last week. Of course, it’s possible she could have made the flight back to New York, but she likely has a packed calendar at the moment between work on her beauty line as well as preparing for the release of the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building this summer.
Blanco, a record producer and songwriter, hasn’t yet attended the Met Gala. But Gomez was a Met Gala red carpet regular during the back half of the 2010s. Her last appearance was in 2018 for the Costume Institute’s celebration of “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”
Gomez and Blanco recently shared the March 2025 cover of Interview, and in the accompanying story, the two spoke candidly about their relationship as well as some upcoming joint projects, including the release of a collaborative album, I Said I Love You First.
When asked about what she liked about working with Blanco as a producer, Gomez replied, “The fact that he listened to me. Sometimes it’s difficult for me to speak up. Most of my anxiety right now is wanting him to speak because I feel like he’s more talented than I am in this field. It’s like working with a great filmmaker. Whether we were together or not, I think he still would’ve listened to everything that I had to say, and he was able to almost transcribe it into music, into what the feeling of what I was talking about should be. And I really found that to be helpful because this album definitely feels just as much mine as I’m sure it does his.”
