Dave Navarro is shutting down a future Jane’s Addiction reunion.
In an interview with Guitar Player published on Saturday, May 17, the legendary guitarist opened up about the future of the band after lead singer Perry Farrell threw a punch at Navarro onstage during a September 2024 gig in Boston.
Navarro, 57, called the band’s situation “still very tender and unresolved” before addressing the incident.

“There was an altercation onstage, and all the hard work and dedication and writing and hours in the studio, and picking up and leaving home and crisscrossing the country and Europe and trying to overcome my illness — it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band’s life,” he told the publication.
Added Navarro: “And there’s no chance for the band to ever play together again.”
Without “throwing animosity around,” he said that the Boston show was his “least favorite gig.”
Before that concert, Navarro said the band was in Europe and “gelling.”
“We weren’t competitive with each other — we were getting along,” he recalled. “There was no ego issue; it was just four guys making great music, just like we did in the beginning.”
Added Navarro: “And that gig, September 13th, in Boston, ended all of that. And for that reason, that is my least favorite gig that I have ever played.”
In September 2024, the “Jane Says” group’s tour ended abruptly after lead singer Farrell, 66, punched Navarro onstage during the band’s show in Boston.
In a post on social media on Sept. 16, the group announced the remainder of their tour was canceled.
“To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group,” read a statement. “As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
It then assured fans that “refunds for the cancelled dates will be issued at your point of purchase.”
The band’s socials then directed fans who bought tickets via outlets like StubHub and SeatGeek to reach out to directly to the companies.
Navarro also shared a separate statement providing more insight into the band’s decision to take a break, which was signed by him and bandmates Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery. However, Farrell was not included.
“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” read the Instagram post.
Navarro continued, “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”
He added that the band “deeply” regretted the cancellation, adding: “We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis.”

“Our hearts are broken. Dave, Eric and Stephen,” the message concluded.
Farrell also addressed the statement in his Instagram Stories. “
This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” he wrote.
Added Farrell: “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
