Bella Hadid celebrated the 10-year anniversary of her 2015 Met Gala debut away from the 2025 event’s red carpet. Hadid chose not to attend despite being photographed in New York City this past week; Hadid, who is based in Texas, had been in town to celebrate her sister Gigi Hadid’s 30th birthday. (Gigi did attend the Met Gala this evening on her own.)
When Hadid first went to the Met Gala, the then-18-year-old model wore a Topshop dress:
Hadid was last at the event in 2022, wearing an elaborate black Burberry corset dress:
Hadid was recently in Paris, filming scenes for Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series, The Beauty. While Hadid primarily models, she has dabbled a little in acting too, appearing on Yellowstone and Ramy.
The star has been mostly out of the spotlight the past few years. In April 2024, she spoke to Allure about her decision to take a step back from the fashion industry. “After 10 years of modeling, I realized I was putting so much energy and love and effort into something that, in the long run, wasn’t necessarily giving it back to me,” she said.
She also discussed the joy she has found living in Texas, where her partner, Adan Banuelos, is based.
“Just as I have styled myself for years now–which I still do–I love being able to do my own hair and makeup, be happy with how I look, and get ready with my girlfriends here in Texas,” Hadid said. “We have the best time, and I never feel like I need to do too much.”
She added that “for the first time now, I’m not putting on a fake face. If I don’t feel good, I won’t go. If I don’t feel good, I take time for myself. And I’ve never had the opportunity to do that or say that before. Now when anybody sees me in pictures and they say, I look happy, I genuinely am. I am feeling better; my bad days now were my old good days.”
