‘Huge Mistake’: JD Vance Speaks Out On Trump, Musk Feud

Vice President JD Vance called the feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk a “huge mistake” during an interview with Theo Von Thursday.

“First of all, absolutely not, Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. The guy is … whatever the Democrats and the media says about him, that’s totally B.S.,” Vance said as his initial take on the situation.

“I’m the vice president to President Trump, my loyalties are always going to be with the president. I think that Elon, he’s an incredible entrepreneur. I think DOGE was really good, this sort of effort to root out waste, fraud and abuse in our country was really good, and look man, I’m always going to be loyal to the president and I hope that eventually Elon kind of comes back into the fold. Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear, but I hope it is,” he went on to say.

“Because his feelings are hurt, why though? Do you know why?” Von asked in response.

“Elon’s new to politics … his businesses are being attacked nonstop, they’re literally like firebombing some of his cars, and by the way, we’re looking into a lot of this stuff … I think part of it is this guy got into politics and has suffered a lot for it, and I get the frustration there,” Vance replied.

“Man I think it’s a huge mistake for him to go after the president like that. I think that if he and the president are in some blood feud, most importantly it’s going to be bad for the country … but I don’t think it’s going to be good for Elon either,” he continued.

The feud started Tuesday with Musk criticizing Trump’s signature “Big, Beautiful Bill” in a post to X.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,” Musk said.

Musk also said the bill would increase the debt by $2.5 trillion and that Trump’s tariffs would lead to a recession before the year is over.

Trump responded, saying that Elon knew about the bill and was only upset because he found out that the administration was planning on cutting the electric vehicle (EV) mandate during a Tuesday press briefing.

“I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody sitting here … he had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem and he only developed the problem when he found out we’re going to have cut the EV mandate.” (RELATED: Trump Accuses Elon Musk Of ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome)

The feud continued with Musk eventually accusing Trump of being on the Epstein files in a Tuesday post to X that he later deleted.

“Time to drop a really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” the deleted post said.

Vance concluded by saying he thinks it is in the country’s best interest for Musk to work with the administration and end the feud with Trump.

“My hope is, [Musk] comes back, says ‘look, made some mistakes, didn’t mean to say everything, let’s smooth it out and let’s all be friends,’ because again I care about the country, and I think the country’s better off under the president’s leadership, Elon’s helping us out as opposed to fighting the administration,” he said.

“I don’t want him to fight the administration, I know the president doesn’t want that, but here we are,” he continued.
