Valerie Bertinelli celebrated #waybackwednesday on May 14 by posting on Instagram a vintage photo of her posing with her late ex-husband’s iconic guitar while simultaneously promoting her son’s latest release.
In the photo, the former Food Network star is pictured a blue-print jacket over a shear black top with Eddie Van Halen’s famed Frakenstein guitar placed provocatively between her legs. The photo is part of a carousel that includes video of Wolfgang Van Halen, her son with Eddie, playing a guitar with the same iconic design.

“#waybackwednesday late 1980’s. I don’t remember what magazine this photo shoot is from but its a fun shot and I still have that jacket 😝 (at some point I was also given a blowup guitar and put in a bathtub 🫣 I didn’t know how to say no back then 😅),” Bertinelli wrote in the caption.
Parade did a little detective work and determined the photo appeared in the October 1988 issue of US magazine and was shot by Deborah Feingold. A copy of the magazine is currently on sale on eBay for $26.99.
“For all the guitar nerds, this is obviously not the original Frankenstein. Wolfie is playing the original in the next slide. He uses it for the slapping part in the new @mammothwvh song, THE END, which is streaming everywhere 🔥🔥🔥,” Bertinelli added. “Go to mammoth.band for info on tour, VIP access, and merch.
