U.S. stock futures are higher as investors scrutinize another batch of earnings.
After the close, auto maker Rivian, Skyworks Solutions, social media company Snap, semiconductor giant AMD, Opendoor, Arista Networks, and Super Micro were among the companies that reported quarterly results.
At 6:10 a.m. ET, futures linked to the blue-chip Dow rose 0.31%, while broad S&P 500 futures added 0.22% and tech-laden Nasdaq futures gained 0.04%.
Corporate news
AMD missed second-quarter earnings per share estimates even as sales beat forecasts.
Rivian reported a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss per share but sales just topped estimates. It also expects a larger annual adjusted core loss than it had previously predicted.
Snap just missed second-quarter sales estimate and reported a drop in global average revenue per user.
Opendoor reported better second-quarter results than a year ago but warned of a revenued decline in the current quarter.
Toast said adjusted EBITDA and revenue in the second quarter beat estimates.
Super Micro’s results in the last three months of its fiscal year missed expectations. The company’s guidance for adjusted earnings per share in the current quarter also came in below forecasts.
Lucid missed second-quarter estimates and trimmed yearly production forecasts.
Disney’s ESPN will buy NFL Network and other media assets from the league in exchange for the NFL’s taking a 10% equity stake in the sports network.
Cryptocurrency
The Securities and Exchange Commission said liquid staking activities aren’t securities under federal law.
Liquid staking refers to the process of staking crypto assets through a third party and receiving a “liquid staking receipt token” to show the, staker’s ownership of the staked crypto assets and any rewards that accrue to them.
