If there’s one fresh face who’s managed to capture the attention of the fashion industry at large, it’s 23-year-old South African sensation, Tyla.
The “Push 2 Start” singer’s winning style streak this week culminated with a dazzling appearance at the 2025 Met Gala. For the special evening, the star stepped out in a white off the shoulder gown by Jacquemus that included dark blue embellished pinstripe detailing as well as a matching floor-length cape that seemed to be inspired by the perfect crisp white button down shirt. Tyla paired her Met Gala ensemble with fresh, dewy neutral makeup and shimmering jewelry—including a gorgeous tennis necklace—courtesy of Pandora. The budding star’s beauty look for the evening also evoked vintage Hollywood glamour with the singer switching up her brunette tresses for a platinum blonde pixie that seemed to pay homage to actress Dorothy Dandridge.
Tonight’s red carpet moment wasn’t Tyla’s only standout style moment in recent days, however. The singer linked up with image architect Law Roach in the days leading up to this year’s gala in multiple head-turning looks that embraced the gala’s dandy-inspired theme including a vintage crocodile print suit from Roberto Cavalli and a striped mini dress and matching hat from Nigerian designer Tolu Coker.
While Tyla’s sartorial influence is sure to rise in the years to come, the singer shared with Harper’s Bazaar previously that her ultimate style inspiration hits closer to home.
“I love fashion … I would wear all my mother’s clothes, heels, shoes, and everything. I would model for my family,” the singer said. “I really grew up looking up to my mother and loving the way she carried herself.”
