This ‘Wicked’ Star Now Has One of the Most Expensive Mouths in Hollywood — $2 Million originally appeared on Parade.
Cynthia Erivo has taken over Broadway, made film history with Wicked and delivered tear-jerking performances – but apparently, her secret weapon isn’t her Tony-winning talent or those soaring high notes. It’s her mouth.
The 38-year-old powerhouse has officially become Listerine’s latest brand ambassador – and they’re so confident in her smile, they’ve insured it for a whopping $2 million.
What makes Erivo’s mouth so special? Beyond that iconic gap that’s become her signature look, the actress boasts some seriously pristine pearly whites. And her secret — she’s basically had a dental hygiene obsession since childhood.
“I’m the geeky kid who was like, ‘I’m brushing my teeth,'” Erivo recently confessed to People. “I don’t think mom ever had to fight me to brush my teeth …”
Oral care isn’t just part of her daily routine, it’s woven into her pre-show ritual. “It’s the last thing I do before I go on stage,” she revealed. “I just want to make sure that I feel really fresh. It sort of gives me a restart before I go on and sing or speak.”
Kamran Shahzad, U.S. head of commercial oral care at Kenvue, couldn’t contain his excitement about the partnership. “We’re ecstatic to collaborate with the iconic Cynthia Erivo to help consumers recognise the importance of mouthwash.”
The mouthwash giant clearly sees Erivo’s “recognisable” mouth as their most valuable marketing asset – literally. This insurance policy represents what they’re calling a “bold move” in celebrity endorsements.
Before you think Erivo’s the only star with an insured smile, think again. The trend of protecting celebrity assets goes way back.
America Ferrera set the bar high in 2007 when Aquafresh insured her Ugly Betty smile for $10 million. “It’s very flattering to have my smile insured for $10m, it’s not something that I ever imagined happening,” Ferrera told the Guardian at the time.
Celebrity body part insurance has become something of a Hollywood tradition. From Jamie Lee Curtis‘ legs scoring a $1 million policy to Nick Cannon getting his baby-making parts covered by Dr. Squatch for $10 million – it seems no body part is too unusual to insure.
