Christopher Guest, who many know for iconic roles like Nigel Tufnel in This Is Spinal Tap and Count Tyrone Rugen in The Princess Bride, made a rare public appearance on May 30 in Hollywood, Calif. to honor a close friend.
Guest attended his friend Ricky Gervais‘ ceremony to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, paying tribute to Gervais’ impressive career in entertainment.

The 77-year-old was photographed with Gervais and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, smiling for the camera at the special event.
Gervais and Guest have worked together on multiple projects in the past, with the two acting in The Invention of Lying, which was written and directed by Gervais, and For Your Consideration, which was written and directed by Guest.
Guest, who has been married to another big name in Hollywood,Jamie Lee Curtis, since 1984, has been taking a break from the entertainment industry for a while now, with his last big project 2016’s Mascots, which he wrote, directed, and acted in. He also directed the Netflix special Loudon Wainwright III: Surviving Twin in 2018.
Luckily, fans of Guest will be able to see him in the highly anticipated new Spinal Tap film, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, set to hit theaters this September.
