Phish may not have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even after winning the fan vote, but the band has gained entry into the world of another iconic institution—the classic ‘90s sitcom Seinfeld.
Phish is featured in a clip John Mulaney shared from his new Netflix show, Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney. The Vermont band guests in a sketch where they literally become the cast of Seinfeld.

In the sketch, Mulaney peers through a telescope and then spies a light blue couch. “That looks exactly like the apartment from Seinfeld—same couch layout. There’s even a chunky landline,” he says.
When a person appears, Mulaney asks, “Wait, is that Trey from Phish?” referring to the band’s leader Trey Anastasio.
Then he spies the band’s bassist Mike Gordon. “And that’s Mike from Phish, but he looks like George Costanza,” he adds. The gag continues with drummer Jon Fishman dressed as Elaine and keyboardist Page McConnell portraying Kramer.
Mulaney and Phish fans shared their love for the clip in the comments on YouTube.
“WORLDS ARE COLLIDING JERRY,” wrote one, while another added, “This is what Bill Hader was talking about when it comes to your ‘sandwich in a briefcase’ style of comedy 😂.”
“A very specific kind of person is going to make this a very specific kind of viral,” wrote another, while another person added, “the amount of effort for such a deeply stupid bit is impressive.”
Meanwhile, another commenter implied the whole skit was nothing more than a dad joke. “This may be a joke specifically created for my father,” they wrote.
