A recent episode of House Hunters has sparked widespread attention online after viewers were introduced to a couple with a 30-year age difference.
In the July 26 episode titled “Cougar Needs a Den for Her Cub,” 52-year-old Sara and 22-year-old Jack search for a new home in Sacramento, California. As they tour homes and share their story, fans couldn’t help but react to the couple’s dynamic — especially when a teaser clip of the episode was posted to HGTV’s official TikTok account.
“There is a 30 year age difference between us, but we don’t feel it,” Sara said in the video. Jack quickly adds, “I don’t care if anyone judges us, they can go focus on their own relationship.”
Their episode revealed that Jack has aspirations of becoming a professional MMA fighter, and part of their house hunt includes space for a large home gym. “I like the fact that Jack’s an alpha male, I think he’s nice and bulky,” Sara said in the episode. “But more importantly I like how calm he keeps me.” Jack responded, “She’s really attractive and she seems like she’s my age when I talk to her.”
The couple met when Jack stopped into the storage facility where Sara worked to complain about ants in his unit. From there, sparks flew. “Immediately after our first date Jack moved in, that day,” she shared. Their chemistry was on full display in one viral moment from the show. While preparing fruit in the kitchen, Sara turns to Jack and says, “I like your banana,” prompting him to giggle. Their realtor, Mengo Lor, called them a “very unique couple,” adding, “I guess love sees no age.”
It’s safe to say fans absolutely ran to the comments of the TikTok to share their opinions on the large age gap.
“oh he needed a place to liiiiiive,” one theorized, while another assumed, “He was living in the storage unit im convinced.”
Another declared, “I’ll go back to watching house hunters if they keep this level of messiness.”
Others came to the couple’s defense, with one saying, “Let them live,” while another agreed, “So what ..,they are happy.”
Many fans found HGTV’s clip after TikTokker Madison Humphreyposted a spoof skit based on the episode. “I guess HGTV is getting a makeover,” she cheekily captioned her video.
