The Traitors has become a worldwide phenomenon. It started as a Dutch show called De Verraders, and as of 2025, it has been launched in over 30 countries.
The UK version is hosted by English broadcaster Claudia Winkleman, and for its first three seasons, it featured a cast made up entirely of unknown “civilians,” i.e. people who were not already famous.
But for season 4, premiering in fall 2025, the show is doing an all-celebrity cast playing for charity. On Tuesday, May 13, BBC One announced the celebrities who have signed on to play the ultimate game of deception.
The cast is as follows:
Alan Carr – Comedian
Cat Burns – Singer/Songwriter
Celia Imrie – Actor
Charlotte Church – Singer/Activist
Clare Balding – Broadcaster and Author
David Olusoga – Historian and Filmmaker
Joe Marler – Former England Rugby Player and Podcaster
Joe Wilkinson – Comedian
Jonathan Ross – Presenter
Kate Garraway – Broadcaster
Lucy Beaumont – Comedian
Mark Bonnar – Actor
Nick Mohammed – Actor and Comedian
Niko Omilana – Content Creator
Paloma Faith – Singer/Songwriter and Actor
Ruth Codd – Actor
Stephen Fry – Actor, Writer, Presenter
Tameka Empson – Actor and Comedian
Tom Daley – Olympian, Author, Broadcaster and Entrepreneur
Some of those names are surely UK-specific in terms of U.S. viewers know who they are, but some are definitely known on this side of the pond — singer Charlotte Church, comedian and actor Stephen Fry (A Fish Called Wanda, Gosford Park), Celia Imrie (the Bridget Jones movies, The Diplomat) and of course, Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed. If you were an Olympics fan, you definitely saw Tom Daley competing for Great Britain in diving
“We’re incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. I’d love to say we’ll take it easy on them and they’ll just wander ’round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks, but that would be a lie,” said Winkleman in the press release announcing the cast.
The celebrities will play for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice. The series will air in nine episodes in fall 2025. The BBC has not yet announced the exact premiere date.
The U.S. Traitors doesn’t return until early 2026, so watching along with the UK Traitors could be a great way to pass the time.
