‘The Pioneer Woman’: Ree Drummond Sparks Talk of ‘Understanding’ With Daughter originally appeared on Parade.
Ree Drummond stirred conversation on social media by sharing a provocative quote about “understanding” alongside a candid photo of her daughter on the family’s ranch. The Herman Melville message hints at more than what the photo depicts.
The Pioneer Woman star shared an image of Paige DrummondAndersen on Instagram. In the pic, Paige cuddled with one of the family’s ranch horses.
Ree used this opportunity to post the Melville quote, which reads, “No philosophers so thoroughly comprehend us as dogs and horses.” The quote suggests that humans and animals have a deep, non-verbal connection and empathy that no philosopher can explain.
In the photo, Paige is wearing ranch attire, topped off with a cowboy hat. She has her arms around one of the family’s horses, hugging its neck.

Paige is the Food Network star’s second daughter. She married David Andersen on May 17, 2025 on the family’s ranch in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
In an interview, she revealed that she and her new husband will live in Dallas full-time for “a few years.” However, they do have a residence near the ranch.
Paige lives in her late grandfather, Chuck Drummond‘s, home. However, she says she plans to return to the family business and its land full-time. “I think it’s where we want to end up long-term,” she admits.
