Teyana Taylor just threw fans for a loop with a shock announcement that was completely unexpected.
In an Instagram post shared on Friday, May 30 the “Rose in Harlem” singer revealed she’s planning to do something she previously stated she wouldn’t be doing anymore: releasing new music.
According to the social media upload, the Coming 2 America actress has a fresh project on the way, and from the looks of it, it’s coming in more than one form. Though the details were kept very minimal, one could assume that in addition to an album, there will be an accompanying visual film for the musical work—that is, if the promo trailer is anything to judge by.
“ESCAPE ROOM — THE ALBUM COMING AUGUST 2025,” the upload was simply captioned. With it, a star-studded video teased the likes of Mufasa and Rebel Ridge star Aaron Pierre (whom she’s been rumored to be currently dating following her divorce from ex-husband, Iman Shumpert), as well as Atlanta and Get Out‘s LaKeith Stanfield.

It’s a likely inference to make, since those that closely follow The Book of Clarence actress know she’s also a talented choreographer and director, going by moniker “Spike Tee” (a play on iconic filmmaker Spike Lee‘s name), and even has a production company, The Aunties Production, responsible for the magic behind several fellow artists’ music videos—Monica, Wale, Bryson Tiller, and Coco Jones among them.
Given Taylor’s 2020 announcement that she was “retiring” from making music, citing feeling underappreciated in the industry, fans were in disbelief at the career update, effectively going wild in the comment section of her post.
“An ALBUM????? So you’re out of retirement!!! OMG LIFE IS GOOOOODDDDD🥹🥹🥹👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾,” one top-liked comment exclaimed.

A third dubbed her “THE SMARTEST WOMAN ON PLANET EARTH,” while someone else agreed, calling her “GENIUS.”
Celebrities, alike, were equally as hyped for the upcoming release. “OOOOOMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGG!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” Kim Kardashian dropped.
Teyana’s latest full musical work, The Album, released in 2020, so needless to say, fans are eager to see what’s to come from the R&B songstress’ Escape Room this summer.
