‘Supernatural’ Star Announces Surprising New Project & Reveals How Jared Padalecki Helped originally appeared on Parade.
Actor Misha Collins, best known for his role as angel Castiel in Supernatural, announced he’s starring in his own one-man show, titled It Seemed Like A GOOD IDEA at the Time.
While speaking to TV Insider in August 2025, Collins, who is currently on tour, said fans throughout the United Kingdom and the United States, will be able to watch his live 90-minute performance. Collins shared that the one-man show consists of personal stories, starting with his childhood, which wasn’t the most financially stable.
“I love telling these very personal stories that bring the audience into some real difficult, emotional terrain, while also having them belly laugh — and they laugh a lot, if I do say so myself,” said the actor.
He also said he was excited to share his stories in front of a live audience.
“It’s nice to see that the hard parts can be funny, and the funny parts can be hard. I also love exposing myself to a live audience — both literally and figuratively — and not just a camera crew,” said Collins to the publication.
In addition, the father of two shared that his Supernatural castmate Jared Padalecki, who played demon hunter Sam Winchester, helped with one major aspect of his one-man show.
“One day on set, after telling yet another story about how I had barely escaped with my life, smuggling myself into Tibet in the back of a vegetable truck, Jared had a flash of insight,” said Collins during the interview. “He said, ‘I’ve got it — the title of your memoir. The cover of the book has the words A GOOD IDEA in the center in large font. Preceding that text, in much smaller, hard-to-read font, ‘It Seemed Like a…’ and at the end, ‘…at the Time.’ So the cover would read, It Seemed Like A GOOD IDEA at the Time. Well, hey, it really was!”
Collins joined the cast of Supernatural in Season 4, which premiered in 2008. The series ended in 2020.
Collins and Padalecki reunited with their Supernatural castmate, Jensen Ackles, who played Sam’s older brother, Dean Winchester, on the upcoming fifth season of The Boys. Eric Kripke, the creator and showrunner of The Boys, created Supernatural. He stopped being the CW show’s showrunner after its fifth season.
Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in The Boys, spoke about his on-screen reunion with Collins and Padalecki during a June 2025 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Ackles explained that Kripke likes to put actors he previously worked with in his newer projects.
“Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural, he is also the writer-showrunner of The Boys. So when he likes to work with someone, he likes to continue working with them. And I was the benefactor of that, obviously,” said Ackles, who joined the cast of The Boys during its third season. “But then he thought, ‘What a good idea. Let’s just bring the [Supernatural] cast back together. Splash the ratings a little bit.’ Not that it needs it.”
According to Ackles, he, Collins, and Padalecki had a wonderful time filming together again.
