West, meanwhile, took the admission in stride, joking that the actress was simply “boy crazy”
While Marla Sokoloff jokingly admitted to having a crush on her Whatever It Takes costar Shane West, the actor says she was simply “boy crazy.”
Sokoloff took to her Instagram Stories to answer fan questions, including, “Did you ever have a crush on any co-stars when filming? Like… BRIAN RYAN haha.”
West played Ryan Woodman in their 2000 film, which centered on a nerdy teen with a crush on the most popular girl in school (played by actress Jodi Lyn O’Keefe). But after he and star athlete Chris Campbell (played by James Franco) agree to help one another win over the objects of their affection, Woodman realizes that perhaps it’s his own friend, Maggie Carter (played by Sokoloff) he should pursue instead.

In April 2024, the now 46-year-old actor took to Instagram to share his April 2003 cover of Teen PEOPLE, on which he posed alongside the headline “Good Guys vs. Bad Boys.”
“Holy crap, remember these? 😂💀 (oh hi, Milo),” West wrote in the caption, shouting out Milo Ventimiglia, who was also featured on the cover. “My friend sent me this to me the other day and my god did it bring up memories…..”
He continued reminiscing about the early aughts, writing, “Magazines, DVDs, Game Cube, Play Station 2, IPods ruling the world, people realizing they had Text Messaging on their phones, MySpace was around the corner, and NO social media 🙏 the good ole days haha.”
More recently, West has appeared in the 2023 thriller Walden, and will soon lead supernatural horror Pig Hill, per Deadline.
Sokoloff, now 44, recently costarred in Netflix’s 2024 holiday film The Merry Gentlemen alongside Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson, and also wrote the film’s screenplay.
