Shailene Woodley has begun a new chapter with boyfriend Lucas Bravo.
Woodley’s relationship with the French actor, going six months strong, “is a breath of fresh air for her,” a source tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Bravo, 37, is “uncomplicated, kind, not pretentious and emotionally present. Her friends love him,” the insider adds. Woodley, 33, is “thriving. It’s a whole new vibe.”
In early 2021 the Big Little Lies actress was confirmed to be engaged to NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a relationship that ended a year later. In a December 2024 interview with Outside magazine, Woodley said that sharing about that time in her life “always makes me cry… It was not right. But it was beautiful.”
Half a year into dating Bravo, the source says, “It’s the total opposite of her dynamic with Aaron. She’s happy, light and having fun again.”
Furthermore, they add, Woodley “isn’t looking to rush anything. She’s focused on living in the moment.”

The Killer Heat star and Bravo first sparked dating rumors this March, when they were photographed arm in arm in Paris, where the actor films Netflix comedy Emily in Paris. They went Instagram official after an April trip in the California desert. In May, a source told PEOPLE the pair had been “traveling between the U.S. and France” to see each other and that Bravo “makes Shailene very happy.”

Among Woodley’s upcoming projects are the movie Motor City, costarring Alan Ritchson and set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival later this month; leading a Janis Joplin biopic; and joining Sterling K. Brown and the cast of Hulu drama Paradise for its upcoming second season.
In addition to Emily in Paris, Bravo has two French series, Les saisons and Merteuil, in the works.
