Actor Jerry O’Connell stripped his soul — and body — bare to reveal his penchant for wearing Speedos during his guest-hosting gig on Live With Kelly & Mark.
Filling in for regular cohost Mark Consuelos on Tuesday, O’Connell joined Kelly Ripa for a spicy host chat about summer activities and a reveal about his favorite piece of swimwear that Live producer Michael Gelman coaxed him into backstage.
“It was actually a little weird this morning, because Gelman came in and got really close to me and said, ‘Um, do you like wearing Speedos? And I like, ‘Sorry, morning, Gelman. Sorry, what? And Gelman got in closer and right in my ear with his hot breath went, ‘Speedos!'” O’Connell recalled. “And I said, ‘Actually, yes, I’ve been known to wear a Speedo or two in my day. I’m a swimmer, I like to wear them!”

Ripa then asked O’Connell if he brought “photographic evidence” of his Speedo body, and the star confirmed that he had, in fact, brought a shot of himself shirtless and Speedo-clad to share with the Live audience.
A shot of O’Connell then flashed on screen, with the performer confirming that his wife Rebecca Romijn took the image, which showed him wearing a Speedo while holding up both of the couple’s dogs in his hands.
“Let me tell you something about Speedos. It has to be the perfect light when you take a photo in a Speedo,” O’Connell advised, with Ripa telling him, “We’re all in favor of that light.”
O’Connell continued, telling the audience that, “You wait for it to be soupy outside than for it to be cold, because if it’s cold, you can’t wear a Speedo.”
He said that “you can’t swim in a cold body of water because then it’s a terrible photo, and you don’t want it being posted anywhere.”
Ripa then turned the tables on Gelman, telling the audience that she advised, “If I know Jerry O, he’s got a few” Speedos to share, before she asked her longtime producer if he’d like to join in on the fun.

“I said, ‘Gelman, do you ever wear a Speedo?’ He goes, ‘Well, just to get rid of my tennis tan, I like to go to the beach.”
The show ended with the producer digging up and displaying a vintage shot of himself wearing a skimpy, bright red swimsuit.
