Move over, Roses — Dan Levy has a new kooky TV family.

Netflix announced at its 2025 upfront presentation on Wednesday that the Schitt’s Creek star has co-created an untitled family crime comedy series that he will also star in, executive produce, and serve as showrunner for.

The series will also star Taylor Ortega (The Four Seasons) and Laurie Metcalf (The Conners).

The official logline for the series reads, “Two deeply incapable siblings are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.”

Levy shared his excitement over the new project in a statement. “I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix,” he said. “Thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”

Based on Levy’s comments, it’s safe to assume that he and Ortega will play the central siblings, and Metcalf will portray their mom.

The show is set to go into production later this year, and will consist of eight episodes.

The series is co-created and executive produced by Levy’s The Idol costar Rachel Sennott, best known for her acting work in films like Bodies Bodies Bodies and Bottoms, the latter of which she co-wrote. Sennott also has an untitled comedy series in the works at HBO.

Levy is executive producing under his Not a Real Production Company banner, which released his feature directorial debut Good Grief last year.

The multihyphenate entertainer previously co-created, wrote, produced, and occasionally directed Schitt’s Creek, which ran from 2015 to 2020. Although this is the first scripted series he’s created since Schitt’s‘ conclusion, Levy has remained consistently busy for the past five years, appearing on shows like Sex Education, The Idol, and Q-Force, not to mention films like Haunted Mansion, Unfrosted, and the aforementioned Good Grief.

Levy also hosted the 76th Emmy Awards, an episode of Saturday Night Live, and the HBO Max cooking series The Big Brunch.
