Scheana Shay has revealed how Brock Davies reacted to what she wrote about his affair in her memoir.
In My Good Side, the Vanderpump Rules alum, 40, opened up about how her husband admitted to being unfaithful amid the fallout of Rachel Leviss’ cheating scandal with Tom Sandoval in 2023, which prompted the end of the latter’s nine-year relationship with Ariana Madix.
In the book, Shay reveals Davies admitted to having an affair as rumors surfaced about him sleeping with Leviss, 30.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Shay reveals that there was “a lot of back and forth” that went on before deciding to reveal her husband’s affair in the book.

Initially, she says, she was “trying to be vague” with the first draft of the chapter detailing the affair. But Shay then decided to rewrite it.
After adding more detail, the reality TV star asked Davies if he wanted to read what she wrote about his infidelity before she had to submit it.
“He said, ‘No, this is your story to tell. I don’t want to steer you one way or the other. Say whatever you want to say, it’s your book,'” she recalls.
It wasn’t until recently that Davies read what Shay wrote.

“I think he didn’t realize truly how hurt I was and how much I was struggling until he read it,” says Shay. “That was hard for both of us. There’ve been quite a few tears the last couple of weeks in the Davies house, but ultimately, we had a very heartfelt, tearful conversation.”

Despite Shay wanting to pretend it never happened, “it’s a huge part of my story and has shaped who I am today as a wife, as a mother, as a friend, as a reality TV persona,” she says.
For her, it ultimately felt disingenuous to hide it since she always prided herself on being “an open book.”
“If I did not share this catastrophic thing that happened in my life, then I’m not being authentic,” says Shay.
The Vanderpump Rules alum previously opened up about why she chose to keep his affair a secret for so long.
“Never shared my side of the story because I’ve been afraid, or thought, if I tell people what I’m actually going through, then they’re gonna think that I’m trying to take the attention off what someone else is going through, and make it about me,” she shared on the July 4 episode of her Scheananigans podcast.
The television personality said “that perception of me” caused her to hold back “at times from opening up on the show or on the podcast, because everyone always says, ‘Oh, you make everything about you.’”
After deciding to share her truth publicly, Shay added: “In my book, I get to make it about me, and you’ll hear the sides of my story that I have never shared until now in the book, in my own words, with my control of the narrative for once.”
