It was already a reunion for the upcoming Scary Movie reboot. And then, two household names just climbed aboard the project, further upping fans’ excitement this summer.
Anna Faris and Regina Hall are set to return for Scary Movie, set to release in 2026, according to a joint Instagram post by the two actresses and their co-star Marlon Wayans.
The caption’s text, accompanying a throwback pic of Faris, 48, and Hall, 54, simply reads “SM6” — referring to how the 2026 comedy will be the franchise’s sixth installment.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Faris and Hall said in a statement to Deadline.
The Wayans brothers are reuniting for the first time in 18 years to write the film’s original script, with help from co-writer Rick Alvarez. Scary Movie is prepping for an October shoot in time for a June 12, 2026 global theatrical release via Paramount, as Deadline reports.
The franchise was first developed by Marlon, 53, as well as Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans. The latter, 67, co-wrote and directed the first two films, and will return to produce the upcoming comedy. Marlon and Shawn, 54, wrote and starred in the first two installments.
This will be the sixth film in the franchise, with Michael Tiddes set to direct, according to Deadline. Tiddes, 49, is a longtime Wayans collaborator, having directed three of their films: the satirical horror comedy A Haunted House and the Netflix hit movies Naked and Sextuplets.
The first Scary Movie comedy was released way back in 2000 and took shots at popular horror movies that had already been release at the time — such as Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Blair Witch Project.
