The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot may have blood ties to the original.
In a sit-down with Us Weekly, Sarah Michelle Gellar, joined by Alyson Hannigan, said she knows “a few” children of original “Buffy” cast members who auditioned for the Hulu reboot.

“I know somebody who auditioned for something on the show,” Hannigan said. Gellar then added, “I know somebody who was on the show whose child auditioned on the show. I know a few people from the show whose children came in.”
Hannigan then replied, “It better not have been one of my kids!”
As of now, it’s impossible to know if any of the kids in question landed roles, since the only cast members to be revealed so far are Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who has been cast as the series lead, and Gellar, who returns to the franchise after 22 years. Plot details remain under wraps, but sources have previously shared that the pilot will follow a new slayer with Gellar starring in a recurring role as Buffy.
“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” Gellar said of Armstrong’s casting. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”
Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman will serve as writers, showrunners and executive producers. Chloé Zhao will direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows banner. Gellar will also executive produce.
