Met Gala attendees are known to drape themselves in sumptuous fabrics and sweeping trains, but Sabrina Carpenter strutted in the opposite direction at this year’s event.
The “Espresso” chanteuse’s Louis Vuitton outfit at the 2025 Met Gala featured a structured burgundy jacket with a stiff white collar and dramatic suit tails, a matching bodysuit, sky-high heels, and — well, that’s it.
Credit for Carpenter’s bare legs goes to Pharrell Williams, the singer told La La Anthony, one of the Vogue YouTube channel live stream hosts.
“He was like, ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you,'” she told Anthony. “So here we are. Here we are.”

The pair hatched their sartorial plan after Carpenter attended one of Williams’ shows for Louis Vuitton; the “Happy” singer has served as creative director for men’s fashion at the luxe Parisian fashion house since 2023.
“Living on the edge tonight,” Carpenter joked when she almost tipped over onto Anthony thanks to the high heels that she described as “a staple for me in my life.”
Carpenter, who stands an even 5 feet when shoeless, said she was looking forward to the evening’s performances but expected the real thrill of the night to come from visiting the one place she hadn’t explored at her two previous Galas.
“I’ve never been to the bathroom once because I’ve never been able to use it in my outfit,” she confessed. “So tonight might be the night.”
Once she achieved her goal, she promised to share her findings.
“I’m sure it’s just a normal museum bathroom, but I’m excited to find out,” she said.

This is the second time in as many days that Carpenter’s height became part of the joke; over the weekend, she appeared onstage during Saturday Night Live host (and fellow Gala attendee) Quinta Brunson’s opening monologue number celebrating the joys of being vertically challenged.
“You were talking about being short,” Carpenter told Brunson during the number. “So I thought I’d stop by.”
Unlike at the Met Gala, Carpenter’s SNL look saw the very tops of her thighs covered in fabric thanks to her (presumably non-WIlliams approved) short shorts.
