A fan captured the April 28 moment on video, uploading it to TikTok with the caption “That moment #BrentSmith catches on fire.” In the clip, Smith can be seen amping up the crowd before a misstep near a fireball made his jacket catch on fire.

Smith quickly whipped around, and the flames extinguished themselves without the band needing to stop to put the fire out on the musician.

Shinedown’s official account commented on the video, writing, “he’s okay guys” with a series of sweating and smiling emojis.

Still, fans were concerned for Smith, taking to the comments to write that they “pray he is ok,” and sharing “That could have been serious. He is so unstoppable.”

Others remarked that this wasn’t a one-time incident for Smith. “He almost caught on fire when I saw them a couple years ago….. Boy needs to watch the markings on the stage better,” said one fan as another wrote, “he had a near miss with pyros in Spokane in 2022. same thing was directly over it and stepped away just as it went off. he left stage for a few minutes and came back joking about crispy eyebrows.”

A third shared the sentiment, commenting, “That is the second time I’m starting to think Brent really likes fire.”
