Legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses unexpectedly pulled a deep-cut track from their vault for only the second time since 1993.
On Saturday, July 12, the band — featuring Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, Melissa Reese and Isaac Carpenter — performed in Warsaw, Poland, treating fans to the rare live performance of “So Fine.”
Originally from Use Your Illusion II, the track was last regularly played in 1993. The tenth song off the album actually began as a tribute to another rock icon — Johnny Thunders.
“Musically, he made it okay for us to start playing acoustic guitar, and to figure out some prettier chords that allowed us to take things to the next level,” McKagan once told Kerrang!
“I have an acoustic guitar which is within reach a lot of the time, and as soon as I pick it up, I go to a D chord – which is because of Johnny Thunders. That’s all because of So Alone.”
Although it was performed frequently around its 1991 release, with over 45 reported live renditions, the band largely shelved the song for nearly three decades.
Guns N’ Roses revived it briefly during their Mexico City show in February 2020, the first time in over 27 years, and then again in Warsaw in 2025.
At the Warsaw show, McKagan sang the entire track. While the original recording features shared vocals between McKagan and Rose, the latter reportedly did not sing during this performance.
Fans shared their excitement on YouTube, with comments like, “It’s about time! Duff should do this song every show!” and “Good to see them mixing it up since reuniting.”
While lucky fans caught this rare moment, the band’s tour continues, leaving open the possibility for more surprise deep cuts.
The ‘80s rock group’s next show is slated for Tuesday, July 15 in Budapest, Hungary, where they’ll perform alongside Public Enemy. They have five more shows remaining on their European leg before taking on a Latin American tour from October through November.
