  • Rihanna attended the world premiere of ‘Smurfs’ on June 28 in Brussels.

  • She wore a sheer celadon green Chanel two-piece gown that showed off her growing baby bump for the occasion.

  • The sheer top and matching maxi skirt featured 80,200 embroidered elements.

Rihanna’s iconic maternity style is back in full force. The singer, who is pregnant with her third child with partner A$AP Rocky, famously loves to subvert maternitywear conventions by showing off her baby bump and wearing—well—whatever she feels like wearing. Her latest ensemble is an instant classic in the Rihanna pregnancy lookbook.

Attending the world premiere of Smurfs, Rihanna wore a custom Chanel two-piece gown. The sheer top and matching skirt made in nautical celadon green silk and chiffon that showed off her growing bump. It featured tone-on-tone organza and feather camelia, and jewelled buttons. Inspired by a look from the Chanel Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2003 collection, the look took 840 hours of work and included 80,200 embroidered elements and 250 feathers.

Rihanna first showed off her third baby bump at the Met Gala earlier this year where she wore a tailored suit with a gray corset detail that revealed the bump. She later opted for a black ruffled top, which she wore open around her bump to a Met Gala after-party. Later that month, she donned a pair of low-rise jeans with a striped polo top and a literal baguette bag. At the premiere of Highest 2 Lowest, Rihanna wore a blue body-con dress with cutouts. And, earlier this week, she attended her partner’s fashion show with her son Riot wearing a button-down shirt.

As Rihanna previously explained to the BBC, she has never worn what might be considered traditional maternity clothes. “I approached it like everything else I approach in fashion,” she said. “I just want to do things my way. I just want to always stitch it up and put my own twist on it. But I just refused to buy maternity clothes, really and truly. I was like, whatever fits was what’s going to work. And that made me challenge myself to get clever with style.”
