Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra are eventually planning to return to the United States, after recently relocating to Spain.
Alejandra, who moved with Gere to her home country in late 2024, spoke to the Daily Mail recently during the City Harvest Presents The 2025 Gala: Carnaval in New York City, saying that they plan to live there “for a few years” before heading back to the U.S. after missing it.
“For a few years [we’ll live in Spain], and then come back,” said Alejandra, who shares sons Alexander, 6, and James, 5, with Gere, 75. “But we’re always coming back. We’ll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp. We just have to balance our lives there and here.”
The publicist and activist, 42, decided with Gere to relocate to Spain with their children after spending years living in New York City to be close to the actor.
“I’m with my family … I missed them a lot. But I miss the U.S. So we come back and forth,” Alejandra (née Silva) told the Daily Mail.

In April 2024, Gere announced in an interview with Vanity Fair Spain his big move to Spain with his wife, whom he tied the knot with in 2018.
“For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends and her culture,” he told the outlet. “She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.”
The Pretty Woman actor later sold his $11 million Connecticut home in October 2024 as he packed to relocate across the globe with his family.
And Gere’s adult son Homer, whom he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell, said he “misses” his father, stepmother and brothers, and is looking forward to their return.
“I’ve been told they’re going to move back within the next few years, so hopefully that’s the case because I miss them here,” he told the Daily Mail.
