While she’s kept a relatively low profile in recent years, Sarah McLachlan will forever be known as an icon of the Gen X music scene. Not only did is she the voice behind such chart-topping hits as “I Will Remember You” and “Angel” (otherwise known as the song that plays in those heartbreaking ASPCA commercials), the Grammy winner founded Lilith Fair, the most successful all-female music festival of all time.
So it was no surprise when fans freaked out over the 57-year-old singer-songwriter’s recent TikTok teasing her first studio album in nearly ten years — even if many music-lovers couldn’t help hoping another announcement would follow soon.
In a short clip shared earlier this month, McLachlan wore headphones as she appeared to sing along to whatever she was listening to…but because the video had no sound, the tune remained a mystery to viewers.
“New Sarah McLachlan music is coming!” the caption read, continuing, “‘Final listens! Can’t wait to share new music with you ❤️ XoS.”
While fans in the comments were definitely thrilled about the promise of new music from the Grammy winner, many had another request — for Lilith Fair to make a comeback.
“And you’re here to announce the new Lilith Fair?????” one person asked hopefully.
“We literally NEED Lilith Fair to return!!!!” agreed someone else.
“Your gen x ladies need another Lilith Fair. Our souls haven’t felt that connected since. Please consider it,” begged another commenter.
“OMG Sarah McLachlan v2.0 + Lilith Rebirth Tour?” added yet another fan.

In a recent interview with Everything Zoomer, McLachlan reminisced about the groundbreaking Lilith Fair, which ran from 1997 to 1999 and went on the road again in 2010, featuring performers such as Sheryl Crow, The Pretenders, Luscious Jackson, Emmylou Harris and more.
“We showed a lot of young women in the world, whether they wanted to be in music or anything, that women could do whatever we wanted,” she said. “We could follow our dreams, a crazy dream of being a musician, and be massively successful at it.”
