Just one day after his friend and MTV co-star revealed to fans that Kirk Medas was fighting for his life in a Miami ICU, the Floribama Shore alum has died. He was 33.
Co-star Nilsa Prowant took to social media on Thursday, May 1, to share with their fans that Medas had been on a ventilator for two weeks as he fought necrotizing pancreatitis. His family launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical and rehabilitation expenses for the reality star, who did not have health insurance. At the time of writing, it’s raised $27,261 of a $100,000 goal.
Unfortunately, another of the pair’s co-stars, Aimee Hall, took to Facebook earlier today, May 2, to announce his passing, as reported by Page Six. In a since-deleted post, she wrote, “I was at the beach when I felt it. Before the call even came, a dolphin kept coming up to me, as if to say goodbye. Kirk and I shared a love for dolphins and the ocean, and in that moment, I just knew.”
“He’s in heaven now — free, whole, and making everyone laugh the way only he could. Kirk had the kindest soul, a heart full of love for everyone he met, and a spirit that brought people together. He truly was the glue that held us all close,” she added. “I already miss his voice, his laughter, his presence. The world feels a little dimmer without him — but I know I’ll see my best friend again someday. Until then, I’ll carry him in my heart. Always.”
His family later confirmed his death to TMZ, reporting liver failure as his cause of death.
