In the Spanish royal family, Princess Leonor is following her mother Queen Letizia’s lead when it comes to style statements.
Leonor, 19, made her debut at an annual reception for locals held at her family’s summer holiday residence, the Palace of Marivent in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on Monday, August 4. This marked the first time that the heir presumptive and her younger sister, Infanta Sofía, 18, joined their parents, Letizia, 52, and King Felipe VI, at the event.
For the special occasion, Leonor borrowed a blue and white ruffled maxi dress by Desigual and Stella Jean from her mother’s closet. Two years earlier, Letizia wore the gown to the same reception in 2023.
Leonor did not let the inspiration she found in her mother’s wardrobe stop with her dress, though. She finished off her look with a pair of Calzados Picon espadrilles that Letizia previously wore in July 2020.

As Leonor steps further into the public eye, she has been looking to the queen for style guidance more often. In July, the mother-daughter duo twinned in matching suits during the Princess of Girona Awards, with Letizia opting for a black satin trouser suit by Mango and Leonor selecting a shimmering navy blue jacquard suit by Bleis Madrid. Leonor once again borrowed from her mom for the event, accessorizing her ensemble with a pair of diamond earrings that have been a part of Letizia’s collection since 2014.
Leonor is currently first in line to the Spanish throne after officially being proclaimed the heir presumptive in October 2023 on the occasion of her 18th birthday. Her father, Felipe, 57, has been king since June 2014. Upon Leonor’s ascension, she will become the first queen regnant of Spain in nearly two centuries, following the reign of her fourth great-grandmother Isabella II from 1833 to 1868.
