There’s a new Pride & Prejudice adaptation coming, and it’s set to star some familiar faces for fans of The Crown.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced they will be producing the latest version of Jane Austen’s iconic novel as a 6-part limited series. Considered a classic of the Regency romance genre, Pride & Prejudice centers on Elizabeth Bennet, a clever and strong-willed young woman who, along with her sisters, must navigate the social pressures of the time to marry in order to secure their futures. Along the way, Elizabeth winds up meeting the curmudgeonly Mr. Darcy, who she immediately forms an antagonistic relationship with, unwitting of Darcy’s own growing affection for her.

The story has been adapted numerous times, including the famous 1995 BBC series starring Colin Firth, as well as a 2005 film starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen. According to Netflix, the series, “will be a faithful, classic adaptation of the novel.” The series is set to be directed by Euros Lyn, who has worked on fan-favorite series Heartstopper. Lyn will also executive produce along with Corrin, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter. Here’s what we know so far about Netflix’s new Pride & Prejudice:
The show started filming in summer 2025.
According to a July announcement, production on the series is currently underway. Along with the news, Netflix unveiled the first teaser image, offering a look at the Bennet girls and their mother:
Who is in the cast?
When the news of the series first broke, it came along with some exciting casting announcements. Emma Corrin, who played Princess Diana on the fourth season of The Crown, will take on the role of heroine Elizabeth Bennet, while Olivia Colman, who played Queen Elizabeth II in the period drama’s third and fourth seasons, will be Elizabeth’s mother, Mrs. Bennet. The duo will also be joined by Slow Horses star Jack Lowden, playing the romantic hero Mr. Darcy.
“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Corrin said when the casting was announced. “To be able to bring this iconic character to life, alongside Olivia and Jack, with [series writer Dolly Alderton]’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honour. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”
In July, Netflix rounded out the cast, announcing that The Diplomat’s Rufus Sewell has signed on to play Elizabeth’s father, Mr. Bennet, with Killing Eve’s Fiona Shaw as the imposing Lady Catherine de Bourg. Also joining the cast are Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins, and Siena Killy as Caroline Bingley. The Bennet girls quintet is completed by Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, with Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet and Hollie Kitty Bennet—the latter two making their screen debut.
Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb and Isabella Sermon have also joined the cast.
We’ll update this as we learn more about Netflix’s Pride & Prejudice.
