On Saturday night, Pottain was transported by ambulance to CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she was pronounced dead. The Natchitoches Parish Coronerās Office determined that Pottain died from congestive heart failure, but a full autopsy has not yet been completed.
Pottain’s brother told TMZ that the family had visited with the TLC star earlier in the day and noticed that she seemed to be having trouble breathing and did not look well.
Pottain appeared on the TLC show when she was 37 years old and weighed 632 pounds. At that point, she’d been relying on a motorized wheelchair for five years.
During the episode, it was revealed that Pottain had previously sought Dr. Now‘s help in losing weight but failed to follow his plan. This time around, Pottain claimed to be even more motivated to lose the weight after getting engaged because she wanted to walk down the aisle at her own wedding.
Dr. Now asked Pottain to stick to his diet and aim to lose 40-50 pounds in one month, something that she was not able to do. Her efforts to exercise with a personal trainer also did not last long.
Although Pottain failed to lose weight and did not qualify for weight loss surgery, she continued to update fans on her efforts after the episode aired.
