Michael J. Fox has built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most wholesome actors. The beloved star of Back to the Future has spent decades inspiring fans and serving as an advocate for Parkinson’s disease research.
However, according to fellow A-list actor Rob Lowe, Fox’s squeaky-clean image doesn’t tell the whole story.
During an August 28, 2024 episode of “Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson,” Lowe dropped a bombshell about his wild days — and Fox was right in the middle of the chaos.
“We got pulled over for speeding,” Lowe revealed at the time. “Well, also because Michael J. Fox and I were smoking pot out of the top of the Greyhound bus roof.” But that revelation was just the beginning of an unbelievable story.
When police pulled over the bus, what happened next sounds like something out of a comedy movie. “The cop pulled us over, and it was like a clown car,” he quipped.
“Out came Whoopi Goldberg, Cher, Judd Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Robert Downey Jr, Jane Fonda and Danny Glover.“
While Lowe only admitted to partaking in cannabis with Fox on the bus roof, the sheer number of A-list celebrities crammed into one vehicle suggests this wasn’t exactly a quiet ride to their destination.
Despite the sheer madness, Lowe ended up leaving fans hanging about crucial details. Listeners probably wondered, Why were all these massive stars traveling together on a Greyhound bus? Was this for a film project? A charity event? Some kind of Hollywood road trip?
The actor kept those answers to himself, leaving fans to imagine what could have brought together such a unique mix of talent.
Even more interesting, Lowe didn’t reveal what happened when the officers realized they’d pulled over what amounted to half of Hollywood’s biggest names. The police were likely too starstruck to do much beyond collect an incredible story to tell for the rest of their lives.
Both Fox and Lowe have clearly evolved since their party-hard days of the 1980s. However, his past confession serves as a reminder that even Hollywood’s most wholesome stars had their moments of rebellion.
