Michael Strahan isn’t ready to put his dancing shoes on anytime soon.
The former NFL player was recently presented with a proposition from Dancing with the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro, who asked Strahan during an appearance on Good Morning America if he would ever think about competing on the popular ballroom dancing competition show.

While chatting with Strahan’s GMA co-hosts Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer and George Stephanopoulos during the Tuesday, May 13 broadcast, Ribeiro was asked if there are any stars from the sports industry that he would personally like to see hit the dance floor this season.
“Don’t be pointing at me,” Strahan, 53, said, while Ribeiro replied, “I think if there was a guy who played for the Giants at one point… he would bring the whole New York audience…”
Strahan then got up from his chair to briefly show off some dance moves, before telling Ribeiro, “That’s as much as you’re getting.”
“We need you, buddy,” Ribeiro, 53, added, promising, “We’ll get you a tall dancer to dance with you so it won’t look so awkward.”
“You know what I love about Dancing with the Stars?” Strahan asked, before quipping, “When they come here, and I just get to interview them, and I don’t have to dance. That’s the best part.”
He then insisted that his “joints are too old and brittle” to be busting out the serious dance moves.
“This is the thing; this is what scared me. Every professional football player and athlete who has been on the show said it was the hardest thing they’ve ever done. If it was harder than football was for me, I cannot fathom it at this point in my life,” Strahan explained.
While a run on DWTS doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Strahan, he did suggest that Stephanopoulos “would do it”—so there’s still some hope for GMA fans!
