Maren Morris has nothing but nice things to say about her neighbor, Sheryl Crow.

“She’s just a badass and she’s always been philanthropic,” Marris, 35, exclusively told Us Weekly on Thursday, May 1, while attending the inaugural Variety Power of Women event hosted by LifeTime in Nashville, Tennessee.

“She’s always been a supporter of women and new artists like myself,” Morris continued of her neighbor, who she says “lives up the street” from her. “She stands by her word, which is amazing.”

Morris went on to say of Crow, 63, that when it comes to standing up for her beliefs, the singer is “not sitting on the fence.”

“She definitely stands up for the marginalized, and she’s done that her entire career,” she continued. “So, I love that. I’m getting to show her that love today.”

Morris honored Crow at the Thursday night event alongside Reba McEntire, Kelsea Ballerini and Mickey Guyton. The event aimed to showcase the group’s contributions to country music and ability to transform the historically male-dominated genre into one that has made it possible for women like Morris to thrive.

“I feel so humbled to have been honored by Variety at the inaugural Variety Power of Women Nashville with such an amazing group of women,” Crow wrote in a Friday, May 2, Facebook post. “You each make me want to be the best person I can be! You each are unique and strong women and just amazing people!”

Crow also gave Morris a special shoutout in her post.

“And I cannot thank Maren Morris enough for being there for me,” the singer wrote. “You never cease to inspire me! You are a gift!”

While Crow has certainly been a hero to Morris and countless young women musicians around the globe, the singer exclusively opened up to Us about her own hero — the iconic Stevie Nicks.

“I have said this ad nausea. I say it to Stevie. I say it to anybody that [asks] me about Stevie: If it were not for Stevie, I would not be doing what I’m doing,” Crow told Us on Thursday. “I poured over the magazine. I laid next to the record player and listened to Rumors. I mean, ‘Landslide’ was just, like, [on a] tape loop in my head. And the pictures of her! She really was my ticket out of my little town.”

Crow continued. “I mean, I wanted to grow up to be her — got the little fringe haircut and scarves — and yeah, I’ve told her that a thousand times. She’s a dear, dear friend.”
