  • Writer David Larbi sometimes has to spend time away from his fiancée

  • When he does, he creates a newsletter called “David Daily” to recap his day, where his partner can read first thing in the morning

  • He shared a video about “David Daily,” and it went viral, amassing 936k views

Each couple has their own way of handling long-distance when one of them is away, from daily phone calls to periodic text updates and FaceTimes.

For author and content creator David Larbi, the best way to keep his partner up to date is to create a daily newsletter. In it, he recaps everything he accomplished that day, both big and small.

Larbi admitted in a TikTok video that he is not a big texter but loves to write.

“We love to share about our days in detail, but I’m not a big texter, so when she’s away, I write her a newsletter at the end of the day so that she can read first thing in the morning,” he wrote atop the clip.

While his partner is away, Larbi keeps her in the loop in a newsletter he appropriately named “David Daily.” In the periodical, Larbi shares insight into his schedule, including his completed to-do list, grocery haul, daily meals, current books, and go-to TV shows.

The colorful copy of “David Daily” shared on TikTok included sections titled, “Shopping bag too full!” “Local man completes to-do list” and “Today’s watch(es).” The video went viral, amassing nearly 1 million views.

He also included a screenshot of him and his partner’s FaceTime, writing, “My day was graced with your beautiful face, and all that felt strange was suddenly in place.” The newsletter also allows the author to work on his writing, weaving in poetry into the page.

Many commenters gushed about the sweet gesture, manifesting a partner who does something similar. “May this love find me,” one commenter wrote. “No David. Now you’re just making all of us look bad,” added another.

While some noted that they loved the effort, they questioned if it wouldn’t be easier to just text. “Love this! Genuine question though, wouldn’t it take a lot less energy and time to just text back?” the commenter wrote, to which another replied, “That’s way better than texting.”

Most of the commenters were moved by this display of love, adding that, “If he wanted to, he would.”
