Liam Neeson is in the midst of a new chapter in his life alongside his Naked Gun costar Pamela Anderson.
A source told PEOPLE that their relationship is in its “early stages,” adding, “It’s sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other.”
This isn’t the first time the Taken star has found love with a fellow actor. He dated Helen Mirren after meeting her on the set of 1981’s Excalibur, and he developed feelings for Natasha Richardson when the two starred on Broadway together.
Throughout his time in Hollywood, Neeson has also been linked with other famous women like Brooke Shields and Barbra Streisand, but in October 2024, Neeson told PEOPLE that dating was behind him: “No, in a word. I’m past all that.”
Now, he appears to be open again to new romantic connections.
Here’s a look back at Liam Neeson’s dating history, from Helen Mirren to Pamela Anderson.

Neeson and Mirren dated from 1980 to 1985. The pair met while filming the 1981 Arthurian fantasy film, Excalibur.
“I remember being on the set and standing with [costar] Ciarán Hinds as Helen walked towards us dressed in her full Morgana Le Fey costume,” Neeson said during a January 2018 appearance on The Graham Norton Show. “And we both went, ‘Oh f—.’ … I was smitten.”
After Mirren revealed that Nesson never told her about that first impression, she shared that they took an important step in their relationship. “We didn’t date, we lived together for four years. We were a serious item for a while,” she added.
In a July 2025 profile of Neeson for The New York Times, Mirren spoke about their time together, recalling how it was “very much Liam’s dream” to become an actor.
“But that’s what Liam would talk about, and it’s extraordinary to see it happen for him,” she said. “I will love Liam until the day I die.”

Neeson and Shields dated in 1992. In her 2014 memoir, There Was a Little Girl, Shields wrote how Neeson “wooed” her with his Irish accent, poetry and choice of cheap wine.
The two grew serious quickly, and after dating for only three months, Neeson proposed to her “without a ring.”
After Christmas in 1992, Neeson told Shields he had to travel to Los Angeles to check on his house there. Shields asked him to call her when he arrived, but he never did. Their relationship came to an end, and when he later proposed again, she had a different answer.
“This was before he started to do a play,” she recalled. “And I said, ‘No, no, no, because knowing you, you’ll probably fall in love with your next leading lady and marry her, so I’m leaving myself out of this.’ “
Neeson’s upcoming play turned out to be Anna Christie, and the leading lady was Richardson, whom he would go on to marry in 1994.

Neeson and Richardson costarred in the 1993 Broadway revival of Anna Christie. At the time, Richardson was married to British producer Robert Fox, but they split about a month after the play closed.
“I’d never had that kind of an explosive chemistry situation with an actor, or actress,” Neeson told 60 Minutes in February 2014, describing falling for Richardson.
They made their red carpet debut at the Tony Awards in June 1993 and the couple wed the following summer in July 1994. That same year, they starred in the first movie together, Nell.
Neeson and Richardson would later welcome two sons: Michéal in June 1995, and Daniel in August 1996.
Decades later, the family was forever changed when Richardson fell and hit her head while skiing at Quebec’s Mont Tremblant. Her injury was worse than initially thought, and she was eventually evacuated to a hospital in Montreal, where Neeson met her.
“She was on life support … and [I] told her I loved her,” he recalled to 60 Minutes. “Said, ‘Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this. You’ve banged your head … And we’re bringing you back to New York. All your family and friends will come.’ “
Richardson died on March 18, 2009, at the age of 45. A New York City medical examiner later concluded that the actress’ death had been caused by the blunt impact from the fall, per ABC News.
“It was a horrible thing to happen,” Neeson told PEOPLE in October 2024. The pair were married for nearly 15 years.

In September 2010, Neeson was romantically linked with public relations executive Freya St. Johnston. At the time, the Daily Mail reported that they met through friends in Hollywood.
“She’s a wonderful person and a fantastic mother,” Johnston’s ex, Matt Winton, told PEOPLE. “She takes life seriously in a free-spirited kind of way.”
The couple made rare appearances, including at a Paris opening.
Nesson and Johnston eventually split in 2012 but were spotted on set together for the filming of a Comic Relief special for Love Actually in February 2017, per the Daily Mail.

Neeson and Anderson have chemistry on and off the screen.
In July 2025, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the costars are dating, saying, “It’s a budding romance in the early stages. It’s sincere, and it’s clear they’re smitten with each other.”
While neither have confirmed a relationship, Neeson and Anderson appeared to enjoy each other’s company as they promoted their movie, The Naked Gun.
In an October 2024 interview, Neeson told PEOPLE he was “madly in love” with Anderson’s work ethic.
“I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you,” he continued. “No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with.”
Anderson also had high praise for her costar, saying Neeson is “the perfect gentleman” who “brings out the best in you … with respect, kindness and depth of experience.”
“It was an absolute honor to work with him,” she added.
