Travis Kelce got candid about why his romance with Taylor Swift works during a new personal interview.
“Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people. When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love,” Kelce, 35, told GQ about Swift, 35, in an interview published on Tuesday, August 12. “It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out.”
The Kansas City Chiefs athlete insisted that their romance “happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked.”
“It still happened very organically. Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organized process,” Kelce continued. “When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with.”
After he explained how solid his relationship with Swift is, Kelce revealed why their romance works so well. “We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are,” he said. “We share all those values. It kind of just took the f–k off.”
The couple was first romantically linked in the summer of 2023 after Kelce revealed on his “New Heights” podcast that he tried and failed to ask Swift out with a friendship bracelet at her Eras tour. They confirmed their romance in September of that year when she attended her first Chiefs game, while she reflected on Kelce’s podcast admission during a rare interview with Time Magazine in December 2023.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift told the outlet about the beginning of their love story. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
While many people assumed their first date was at the Chiefs game, Swift insisted that wasn’t the case. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she said. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard-launch a first date.”
