With one exception, the postmerge of Survivor 48 has been defined by timing. As the majority continued to pick off the outsiders, some castaways were just waiting for the opportunity to make their move. And in this week’s episode, we finally saw that opportunity come to fruition. One of the most hidden duos in Survivor history in Kyle and Kamilla decided to put on their acting faces once more, attempting a gambit to get the powerful pair of Joe and Eva to vote off their own, setting them up to hopefully win the million dollars in next week’s finale.

Who got voted off on Survivor 48 tonight?
Shauhin Davari
Survivor 48 capped off a yearlong process for Shauhin, after he had come out to the island as an alternate of Season 46, and became the most talked-about person in the preseason. But as Shauhin expressed in tonight’s episode, any expectation of what his experience would entail went completely out the window once he hit Lagi beach. He locked in with Joe and Eva early on, becoming a trio that solidified even further after getting blindsided at the swap and then brought into a core of the “loyal” majority.
At the Final Six, Shauhin was good to keep moving through with the plan of going to the end with Joe, Eva and Kyle, believing he could beat what many were calling the odds-on favorite to win in Joe. But the debate professor couldn’t help but talk through the pros and cons of turning on his alliance with his fellow “middle man” in Kyle. Little did Shauhin know, all that did was give Kyle the fire to burn his Icarus-like wings. Kyle and Kamilla launched a smear campaign against Shauhin, lying to Joe that he was conspiring against him and had a secret idol. And, despite it being a risky maneuver, it paid off handsomely. While Shauhin thought he could stick to the plan of rolling with his foursome, he had no idea the plan had changed, depriving him the chance of making his closing argument at Final Tribal Council.

Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 48 tonight?
No! While part of Kyle and Kamilla’s gambit involved saying that Shauhin had an idol, it was all a fabrication from the twosome. Eva goes into the finale as the only person with an idol or advantage, and she must play hers at the Final Five.
