Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, were quick to send love to Ryan Seacrest after his emotional health update. The American Idol and Wheel of Fortune host revealed a close family member’s cancer battle, breaking down in tears as he shared the news. The couple’s show of support comes during a deeply personal and difficult time for the entertainment personality.
On the July 22 broadcast of LIVE With Kelly and Mark, the couple, who are longtime friends with Seacrest, shared an on-air message after he shared personal news about his father’s health. Rip and Consuelos discussed Gary Seacrest‘s battle with cancer.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Ripa said, “I want to send our love to our friend Ryan Seacrest. [Gary]’s battling prostate cancer, and apparently it’s gotten worse and it spread.”
Ripa concluded that she and Consuelos “want to send our love.” Her husband added, “Love you guys.”

Seacrest shared details of his father’s health battle on his radio show, On Air With Ryan Seacrest. He discussed Gary’s diagnosis and how his health took a critical turn after battling pneumonia.
“It didn’t get better, it got worse, and it spread. It didn’t go well for him,” Seacrest explained. “I was on an American Idol show live during last season, and my sister called me and she said, ‘Dad is in the ICU. How fast can you get here?’ I finished the show. We were almost done. I didn’t even remember what I was saying on the show.”
He further opened up that his father leaned on him when it came to a decision whether or not to have surgery. “I’ve never seen my strong, very smart father with the look on his face that he had, and the concern, looking at me to help guide the decision that should be made in this moment,” the television host added.
Seacrest cried, telling the audience about a photo he received ahead of his father’s 81st birthday, where he was able to leave home and spend some time outside. The image showed Gary and his wife, Connie, as they looked at the water.
“Last night, I got the most powerful, good, happy picture from my dad and my mother, who was with him, they went to a beach to sit outside, they just wanted to look a the water,” he revealed.
“They can’t do much. But, I saw him smile, I saw my mom smile.”
