Kelly Ripa has a little pet peeve when it comes to hosting Live With Kelly & Mark with her husband Mark Consuelos.
On the latest episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Ripa said that while sharing the spotlight with Consuelos on Live has been great for the show, there is one thing that annoys her while they’re working.
“He doesn’t listen to me frequently and he will tune me out while we’re live on the air,” she said.
Ripa noted that, after nearly three decades of marriage, she’s used to such behavior at home. But in front of the cameras, she sometimes has to remind him that they have a job to do.
“When you are being paid, highly paid by the way, to literally listen to me, then you have to listen,” she said. “I watch him drift away and I’m like, ‘Hey, hey, don’t do that!'”

Of course, the couple is no stranger to working together, having met on the set of All My Children before tying the knot in 1996. Consuelos also frequently guest-hosted alongside Ripa on Live before landing the gig permanently. What’s more, the show can often become a true family affair when their kids join them for various segments.

While Ripa said Consuelos was initially hesitant to join the talk show, she pointed out that viewership has actually grown since her hubby came on to co-host.
“The audience really responds to Mark because Mark has a zero Fs attitude,” she said. “And the audience loves that. There’s no artifice with him.”
That audience also includes a rising male demographic, which Ripa credits, in large part, to Consuelos.
“We have men sitting in our audience, a first,” she shared. “We have never had that before.”
