Kayla Nicole discussed her post-breakup pet responsibilities on a recent episode of her podcast, The Pre Game
Nicole never mentions her ex-boyfriend Travis Kelce by name, however, they shared dogs Chauncey and Rambo when they dated
The influencer referenced a past partner when talking about their two dogs, revealing that she takes “full responsibility” for their pups after the split
Kayla Nicole is breaking down her furry friends’ finances.
The influencer got candid about the pricey bills she has to pay as a dog mom when speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, The Pre-Game, featuring guest Nazanin Mandi on Friday, May, 9.
The topic came up when Mandi revealed that she and her ex-husband, Miguel, each have custody of one of their cats — prompting Nicole to ask, “Now how did y’all come to that decision?”

“I have dogs with the previous partner, and I got both the dogs,” she claims of her pets Chauncey and Rambo, who she shared with her ex Travis Kelce. The former couple, who had an on-again, off-again relationship for five years since 2017, adopted the pups while they were together.
When the pair split in 2022, Nicole alleges in the clip that she took “full responsibility” for their dogs. She then began to reveal some of her pups’ recent expenses.
I love spending quality time with my pups, Chauncey and Rambo, and love that Seresto is a part of that. We had a ball last weekend at the grand opening of the #SerestoStage at Bar K. #ad pic.twitter.com/6PxINQtq2a

“I had a dog bill the other day that was $2,000,” the sports reporter shared. “And I love my kids, but how did ya’ll come to that conclusion because that’s impressive,” she asked Mandi of how she and her ex-husband decided on custody of each of their cats.
“That speaks to the relationship you guys still have,” Nicole added in response to Mandi revealing that it “naturally” happened. She concluded, “That means you guys are in a good, healthy, safe space to be able to make adult decisions.”

Nicole first posted about her dog, Chauncey, in 2017. She uploaded an Instagram photo along with a caption in tribute to her new friend.
“I would like to formally introduce you all to our son Chauncey Gallagher Kelce The First. He’s a cancer [zodiac sign]. Likes to eat his poop more than food. And loves when you hold him over your shoulder like a 3 month old baby. He bites out of excitement, but doesn’t mean it,” the caption began.
“His top two tricks are: crawling under the bed until he realizes he’s stuck and starts crying out of sheer panic, and burying his poop in the couch. He said when he grows up he wants to be a firehouse dog, I told him no. Me love him. 😭💛🐾 #NationalTakeYourSonToWorkDay,” the post concluded.
The recent podcast episode isn’t the first time Nicole has subtly referenced Kelce, having made unnamed mentions of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in the past. She’s also discussed her past romance on other podcasts, too.
During her guest appearance on the Second Wind podcast released on May 6, the media personality opened up about still being referred to as Kelce’s ex despite their romance ending in 2022.
“I think initially I’m new to the landscape of being a public figure,” Nicole said on the episode, hosted by five-time Olympian Marion Jones and acclaimed entrepreneur Suzanne Evans. “I don’t consider myself to be a celebrity, but a public figure absolutely.”
While Nicole said she’s always shared the thought that people were curious about her “wellness journey” and about “Tribe Therapy,” she’s come to learn that the intentions of an interview aren’t always genuine.

“You sit down and you do an hour-long interview with someone and the headline is maybe a one sentence that you said of, ‘Yeah, I was heartbroken and devastated because I went through a breakup and that’s the headline,'” she said.
“Like, ‘So-and-so’s ex is devastated still and she’s sad and she’s depressed,” Nicole continued. “It’s like, ‘Damn, girl, did you listen to anything? I am human and I take it with a grain of salt now. One day they’re going to have to stop calling me someone’s ex.”
